Telephone Telephone..

The one thing which puts me off is the dead land line telephone. Our phone at home has stopped responding to calls since a week now. I am not able to use this instrument to connect to the internet. Using a dial-up connection is outdated, but when you can get a free telephone line why wouldn’t anybody go for it??

It has been three weeks since I came home after finishing the last formalities at the college. It was indeed very helpful to have my parents accompanying me on my last trip back home. It was as if a small kid is being escorted home by his parents after his studies in a residential school. It was not a smooth one though. In the fast moving city of Mumbai, getting separated at the local railway station was inevitable. Though ephemeral, this situation made my dad realize the gravity of having a cell phone in hand. He was always against owning one.

It was indeed a pleasant experience for someone who has been bearing the searing heat of Surat, to be in Bangalore where the normal summer day time temperature never crosses over 32 degrees. It used to start raining at the time of dusk everyday bringing the temperature even lower, but at the same time uprooting numerous trees, electric poles and most importantly the telephone line poles. In a way, this very rain is the main culprit in bringing my telephone to this dead state..:-(

I was on a random visit to my native place Mangalore last week. There was a specific mission with which I had been to Bantwal, a nearby town. My father wanted me to cut open the coconut shell so as to dry it and extract oil out of it. The number was not ten or twenty. I had to open some 600 odd coconut shells. Not a small thing for anybody from a city, I feel I should be given a medal for successfully accomplishing that task.

All my batch mates from Bangalore of NIT Surat have finally come back. There was this interesting news I heard from them. It seems there is going to be Alumni meet for all the SVNIT pass outs this week. The venue for the event is Bangalore. I was pleased to hear that even I am invited for it. We would be meeting all our super seniors out there. Let us see how many of them would turn up for the event.

Nothing much for now….. C ya..

Mummy main Engineer ban gaya..

So finally I am an Engineer today. Not that the results are out. But definitely it is an end to all those cramming-up-thing and reading 'just because it is asked in the exams' thing. Our final end semester exams are over..

I have been refraining my selves up from blogging for the past five weeks, not that I never sat in front of the monitor but didn't feel like writing anything. Now I am here to vent out my month long frustrations. This month was a boring as well as a hectic one . It started with our lab exams and those project presentations. And then came the PL, where we opened our books for the first time in the semester and there we were: trying to figure out which all chapters are there in the course. Yes, that is the scenario here. I guess it's the same in the hostels of any Engineering college.
The exams started with little apprehensions about the starting date. Thanks to some of those who had done exceptionally well in their GATE and had to attend interviews for the admission into IITs and IISc. The exams went pretty decent this time. But the best part is that they are all over now..!! With it, the time has come to get the slam books filled and making copies of all the photos that were taken during our stay here. I got GBs of those and need to upload them on the web.
Today, some ten minutes before the exam was to get over, the celebration had started. I still had some 8 marks question to be attended. For a moment I thought I should go for it. Then something came into my mind and decided against it. I just stappled my paper and rushed outside to join the party. Everyone had colors with them and started smearing over each others body and nobody was against it. It was a nostalgic feeling. My eyes were glistening, I don't know why, I just didn't have the feeling that I am through with Engineering.! Was this the day for which we prepared so much for the entrance exams and our semester exams..?? Finally had to wish tata to all those localites whom I shall see next only during our convocation ceremony.
It's all over now. I want to be in a hostel again. It is said that it is a home away from home and truly it is. Will miss all those bakar sessions and those late night movies. Also the get together parties and treats... ohhh there's sooo much.. May be this is another reason why I would like to go for my higher education..
Adios,
Luv this college...
