I seriously don't know why I gave this not-so-serious title here.. I like that catchy phrase.
Someone said it rightly that ‘Never go by Looks’. People look very modest and might behave in the dumbest way you can ever imagine; but never take things for granted. We have these experts from Australia who look really old but behave very modestly. They observe things very carefully. Initially when I met them I was with an impression that the management is silly to spend around 10 lakhs per month on each one of them.
Mr. Peter is specialized in Operational maintenance and training. He is a jolly kind of person; whistling and singing most of the time. Last night the crusher unit got jammed and the whole refinery was on a standstill. Mr. Peter was relaxing in his cabin. I called him up and told that there was such and such problem. Guess what, he just taps his legs for some time and says ‘this was a short walk!’ He reached the site and in no time the problem was solved.
The other day in the control room he simply pushes the chair across and waves towards the chair to move further, encouraging. Also when there was an alarm he gestures to shoot (tishkun tishkun) them out..!!
Today I went to his cabin to listen to some music in his laptop and have some coffee. Started off a conversation with him and learnt that he used to train people in ALCANE, one of the largest refineries in the world. He then started telling about various aspects of operations and he had software with him, which had every detail in it with regard to the operation of a chemical refinery. He had so much of useful resources with him but only that the company is not utilizing them in time.
